Monk Bag
Traditional Carry-all. As they perform their ascetic duties, monks
wear simple robes to cast aside all issues
of status and comfort related to everyday
clothes. These simple robes have no zipper,
buttons, or pockets. However, a monk may
still have to carry things (some medicine, a
water bottle, religious books, etc…) so a simple
bag is used for incidentals. Monks also
are forbidden to be touched by women, so if
a woman gives an offering, the monk can receive
items by holding out the open bag. Our
bag has the same simplicity, but we added
a reinforcing lining to make the cotton fabric
design stronger.
