Vishnu Sitting
Vishnu Sitting with Trident. The Powerful four(or more)-armed Hindu deity, worshipped for his sacrifices on behalf of mankind. The four arms signify the four ashrams (or stages of life): The Quest for Knowledge (Brahamacharya), Family Life (Grihastha),Retreat into the Forest (Vana-Prastha), and Renunciation (Sannyasa). They further signify the four aims of life (Purusharthas): Duty and Virtue (Dharma), Material Goods, Wealth, and Success (Artha), Pleasure, Sexuality, and Enjoyment (Kama), and Liberation (Moksha). He is depicted here holding a conch, one of the most important emblems of Vishnu. The blowing of the conch symbolizes the primordial creative voice and Indian mysticism links it to the sacred sound OM, which is said to be the breath of Vishnu, pervading all space. He also holds a mace, which represents both physical power as well as power over time, which is associated with Kali. The trident is known to be associated with the power of Shiva.
Bronze Each piece you see here is made individually by our master artisans. The craftsmanship involved creates slight variations in color, finish, size, and shape - a quality we consider to be an added touch of uniqueness. The remarkable detail of our bronze sculptures is due to meticulous and labor-intensive care by Thai craftsmen to produce these unique sculptures of exquisite detail and timeless durability. Buffing, polishing, and patinising give each piece its final green-grey verdigris or bronze luster, which conveys the essence of what we at Eastern Serenity admire in South-East Asian art.
