Monk Bowl
Traditional Thai Practicing monks rely on the members of
the community near the temple to provide
daily nutrition. Each morning the novitiates
visit surrounding neighborhoods with an
empty alms bowl that is filled with food for
the day by people wishing to gain merit with
Buddha. We offer three styles of the bowl
to be displayed both as a reminder that
communities can work together selflessly
to support an individual’s path to nirvana,
and as a gentle reminder to ourselves to
consider those whose bowls are empty.
